In the last BPS, in the last minute a new concept was introduced.
Yes, i.e. only 2% out of 15% increase will be loaded in Basic Pay.
This decision was not disclosed to employees till the date of signing the minutes.
Till the last meeting between UBFU and IBA no word is uttered about this proposal.
Only on releasing of signed minutes employees came to know this decision.
That is a back stabe by a union.
Other unions said they were not aware of this,
They have to sign on the dotted lines as prescribed by the Big brother and IBA.
But, this excuse is unaccepted by the members.
Instead , a new spl.allowance was introduced which will not be taken for retirement benefits.
Thereby member's pension was reduced by Rs.3000 to 4000 every month.
Computation and Gratuity are reduced by huge amount.
This concept affects not only seniors but also New recruits after 2010.
As their NPS contribution by Bank as well as employees will be reduced by 7.5% (spl.allowance and D.A.thereon) every month.
If you calculate for 35 years of service , and future increase in wage revision, annual increments & D.A., the amount will be mind blowing.
If we assume one employee covered 7 settlements for 35 years of service.
Then Seniors retired between 2012-17 will be affected by one time only.
Those retiring between 2017-22 will be affected 2 times only.
But, recruits after 2010 will be affected in all the 7 settlement.
Hence the loss will be higher and higher.
Runs to lakhs and lakhs of rupees.
Why I am writing this at this juncture?
There is a reason.
In the last BPS meeting the proposal was put forth by IBA again this time.
But, UFBU is tight lipped about this proposal.
Whether they are opposing or accepting this proposal?
I want to remind , In the charter of demand by UFBU , it demanded the existing special allowance to be merged with Basic Pay.
In this scenario, it is the duty of serving work force to give pressure to unions not to accept this 2% load proposal , and stick to charter of demand.
In every settlement a twist , a back stabe is done by Big Bro at the last minute, and other unions seem to be helpless and join the treachery.
This should not happen this time also.

Commenting, scolding, cursing unions after everything goes out of hand is if no use.

Big brother theory cannot be accepted. No one compelled the others to sign on dotted lines. When AIBOC is not participating in the negotiations on mandate issue why such a stand has not been taken by other unions. Once signed each one is culprit and cannot escape from that. To get kudos for good features of settlement and not taking responsibility for such a dubious feature, TUs are not minors admitted Partnership only for the benefits. Hence the culprit UBFU as whole only. Let us hope history does not repeat this time.
I could not understand why so called leaders are spineless at the time of discussion table.something wrong is there either there is vested interest or they have no guards.actual solution for young bankers they should have right choice of perfect leaders.
We hope they are not illetarates. They are representing lakhs of comrades. Why and how the concept of 2% load on Basic crept into.
Atleast this time they should not give scope for such mistakes.
Pl do not allow CHV to dominate in the negotiations process let the other union leaders take active part & finalize as per the character of demand
In fact our leaders haven't worked in field for years together so they aren't aware of these things. Some of the leaders accept their ignorance in private. But they want to update themselves nor willing to vacate the position for some other person
Hi dear... all these factors and loads are well known to these leaders... as we are simply underestimate them. But somehow they kept tight lipped... on these issues... our senior colleagues are also better know all these... but dear who will dare to bell these leaders? During all BPS seasons, we used to do arguments, cursing, resignation from unions, denial of paying levy etc etc... but of no use... this is the reality which not only in bank trade unions, but in all other sectors, industries too, despite being political or not... the latest one you can see in muthoot pvt bank strike in kerala... how it ends.....
We should fight for long term benefits and working conditions for officer. There should be no late sitting in the banks.Over time for late sitting should be given.
why retired employees are part of union. I feel young joinees should be part of union. Retired employees can be part of retirees union and start work for them. I feel our bank unions are the most worst and they kill their own members by all mistakes. Our union leaders are like cobra snakes with full of poison in their body.
Hope the anamoly will be rectified this time and benefits passed on to the previous retirees affected by the anamoly
Dear, as you all may be knowing, except in one or two workmen unions, no others including officers are having retired persons in their office bearership. In workmen unions, their bylaws permitting to keep retired hands despite the majority youngsters objecting it through these years... its their fate...
This should not be accepted
No Youngsters want to take active participation in union work They only talk curse rant and rave.Let these who are spewing bad words at those negotiating the BPS take up their role and face their challenges then we shall know how much bargaining they can handle. There is basically lack of interest and most are involved in the day day work at the bank that no one will have the time to attend the meetings or be able to take care of the welfare of staff. As it is there is acute shortage of bank staff. There have to be dedicated union staff who work only towards staff welfare and who are senistised to the apathy of our working conditions ,collect all staff opinions before a major decision is taken or BPS is signed
Chv. Is ready for 2% He is main culprit of bankings fraternity. If signed. Other will also be culprits shame on these leaders. Those signed 2% last time also. For God sake. See the salary of other departments. Shame on you. Blady. Ufbu leaders
Iba will meet WeBankers group on 15 October and ufbu will on 18 in Mumbai.
Keep away to cha from bank settlement. Represent another those who are interested in employees interest.
It's just like when we are opting a insurance policy, the reality comes when we claim (not while opting)
Dont blame youngsters. We all know what you so called senior and older bankers have done. In your young days you old officers used to come home by 5 p.m. that after vegetable and grocessary shopping etc. Those above 55 age have all royally enjoyed. The baastrard old union leaders belong to your class only. That is why simple solution is IMPLEMENT CPC in psu banks. No Zanjhat Fatafat
WE WANT CPC....

Those were the days when officers worked round the clock very often.
You are now enjoying with computers blaming network problems and even without basic knowledge of banking.
False. In those days there were no NPA norms so no npa recognition so no provisioning so BOGUS profits. As a child I have seen many bank officers playing carrom and cards in office after 4.00 p.m.
There was bullshit such as third party products.
All union leaders in our bank have done rural semiurban posting on DUMMY BASIS. That is they continued working in cities and once in a month come to rural branch and sign muster
There are 100s of examples when officers used to watch movies 3 to6 showtime
Make G.V.MANIMARAN GEN.SECY.Canara bank officers assn. as the leader of the
Bipartite negotiating team .and see the
result.
At this juncture is this argument among ourselves necessary?
Dear All,
Having seen comments from members above I am inclined to share some of my thoughts:
1) There is still time to renegotiate load factor and not succumb to nefarious designs of IBA and any union agreeable on this 2% story. Let us fight tooth and nail and not accept this. It is not only a matter of money but prestige associated with the profession. Your worth is judged with Pascale comparison with other industry. Hence, it's a matter of social standing. That is how IAS get super time scale to distinguish between IAS and other civil service persons. Hence, basic is not only about money but prestige as well. Let their be no compromise.
2) Friends, banking is a highly competitive industry. If packages are not competitive, quality of manpower goes down as the sector turns unattractive. Hitherto, Industry was run by people who had joined in 70s/80s when banking was considered at par with the best. Hence, best minds joined the industry making it attractive to work at. Alas, over the years, it has turned unattractive, thanks to the dwindling negotiating powers of the union. Now, it's matter of investigation whether it happened due to leadership quality or membership issues.
3) I see youngster commenting on seniors going home at 4 pm or 5 pm. I have served the industry for 35 years and I can tell you with confidence that no officer clan ever had this luxury since 80's. For clerical, yes but that was their service condition
4) So, without pointing fingers, unite, give your leadership strength and fight for your prestige. Let this settlement address the following squarely:
a) merger of SPL allowance
b) atleast 15% loading on basic and no repeating of mistake of the last settlement
c) bring basics aligned to CPC
d) pension updation and family pension as per RBI/ CPC
e) entry level basic to match with central class I service
Only with the above, an acceptable wage revision can be looked at. Any performance linked incentive should be over and above this.
Cheers!!!

S Chandra Sir. I agree with you. Time and again I have been saying same thing that sp.pay should be merged with basic. Thereafter DA @ 47.80% I.E. 478 slabs should be merged and then at least 12% loading should be done on such merged basic. Rest of the 3% can be spread over hra, cca, medical, lfc ltc etc.
