Govt. and IBA reacts to our strike!

Today two different news has come.

1. IBA has cancelled the meeting with UFBU scheduled on 13.02.2014

2. Our Finance Minister, for the first time after nagotiations started come with his views.
It is reported that “As public sector bank employees started a two-day strike today seeking higher wages, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said the profit of banks cannot be used only to enhance salaries because there are other obligations.“I will appeal to employees and officers of banks to recognise that banks profits, banks earnings have other claims. While claims of officers, staff and employees must be duly acknowledged, and a fair and just (wage) settlement is arrived at, there are other claimants to banks’ profit,” he said.
(Indirectly giving message to the general public, that Bank employee’s demands are not reasonable and they are very greedy.Who are other claimants? NPAsand write offs?)
******************
I dedicate this news to comrades,
Those who, not participated today’s demonstrations at their work place and taking rest and recuperation, particularly those who advocate for indefinite strike.
Those who are asking for Pay commission instead of Bi-partite system.
Those who doubt Unions and IBA are in hands and gloves.
Those who said unions are not capable of getting wages at par with Govt. servants.
Those who don’t know the labour acts and basics of negotiating process .
(one has suggested that why should we wait for 10th of Feb, let us start from tomorrow morning, without knowing the minimum period for notice to strike)
***********************
Why?
First we must know, against whom we have to fight?
We should know the charactor of IBA/Govt.,
From the attendance for today’s demonstration and seeing the photographs one may accept that :
Senior employees, Retired employees and active union representatives’ form 90% of the gathering.
What happened to our officers and new employees?
Remember new employees (recruited after 2009) number is nearing 40% of the total bank employees .
If this is the tendency among employees, do you think will IBA/Govt. will come down?
Unless we are prepared for our collar to become brown we can’t achieve even our reasonable demands.
On watching today’s demonstrations, and read the above two news items, I could not control my anger and anguish and hence this post.
If you feel hurt, I am sorry.

Many of the new joinee even dont know where to join the demonstration. and the union leaders are also not informing then the location ans timing of the demonstration. this is a time where by sending sms to all the members can do the trick. I think there is no proper organizer an planning of demonstartion

FM speaks of"a fair and just(wage)settlement"? Is it 4.5%,9.5%,10%as offered by IBA? Let FM come out. What is this hide and seek game? Bankers work for more than 10 hours a day under lot of pressure and susceptibility to risk and accountability worse than anyone else. Doesn't the industry need efficient work force to accelerate engines of growth? FM does know that bankers are the poorly paid lot and banks do not attract cream of labour but continue to lose their efficient work force to other insignificant labour; flight of labour/brain drain is the worst in banking industry. Have IBA and govt no responsibility to retain and enhance quality of labour and arrest brain drain in banks by offering competitive wages? Do the govt and IBA forget that UGC doled out huge compensation to attract intelligence? Have people forgotten what Mr.D.Subba Rao, Former Governor of RBI stated in public about brain drain and wages in banks? Strong will and thoughts and not cheap oratory, are the need now.

Instead of blaming new comers, i would like to request you to have a rethink of the union activity. can you please tell me how many people you met and you have discussed about your course of action?, How many sms you have sent?, How many press meetings you have arranged?

I personally request you take in to confidence your cadres first instead of creating things in dark room.

In Today's Hindi Daily their is only photo of Strike and in English Daily their is old news of failure of talks. It is surprise to note that why we are on STRIKE is not reported by print or visual Media. Is this a fault of young Banker. Any unbiased banker will agree that our union leader have failed to make favorable public/ media opinion despite passing of more then one year. Further, they are not aware of feeling/ views of their rank & file. We are giving real time service to public based on latest technology but our union leader are unable to connect with us on real time platform. It is high time, please wake up.

sir, i agree with you. This young blood is too selfish for them self including me.Even i have not participated not about today yesterday as well.It is not that i don't want pay revision, i m eagerly waiting for it.But Sir, when you have posted this let me also keep the views of 40% youth to whom old people suck them daily. How many of these 40% new people are posted to there states, forget about native place. And how many unions have even bothered to take up there views in front of management. A Bihar boy is posted to rural place of karnataka, where he is daily harassed by locals stating he dont know local language, a UP person is posted to Tamil Nadu, a Maharashtrain is posted to Himachal and many more cases.Have you ever bothered to write there feelings on your website. On basis of service regulation you put a blind eye on them, but and ignore the 40% feeling of your comrades. My views are not for demoralizing anyone or make people feel that youth is not interested in wage revision.

The Honarable FM should first know that he doesn't has any right to make any comment regarding Bank's Bipartite settlement, because first of all he is from a corrupted political party as there are lot of incident like 2G spectrum(RS. 1,76,000 cr etc) are from his party and who knows whether he has any involvement in it or not?

Secondly while sitting in AC room the FM should not make any dialogue regarding AAM BANKERS wage settlement as Hon'le FM has no common idea of BANKERS day-night hard labor in Branch. So, as he is old he should take retirement and go to any mythological place for mental peace.
Thirdly, to Union Leaders about todays attendence of the new joiners in banking sector is low as they really became fed up after Seeing your match fixing game from long 2 years but no output is there. So, they are now thinking for the alternatives job. Many of them are not interested in Banking Sector. The Union is Yours not ours. If the Union leaders are really serious about the AAM BANKERS then dont think about the IBA/Govt. Just think for the BANKERS. Go Strike for 2 or 3 months. We are ready for cutting our salary, but not for our genuine rights.

FIGHT FOR GENUINE DEMAND TO CONTINUE.....
let us not play the blame game that who is at faults, rather we must take a lesson and ensure that our fight for genuine demand should continue and all old and new should come together to show the strength. let us come together and let IBA and GOVT. know that we can't compromise on our legitimate right of right pay with balanced work life.

We should protest in such a way that our demands are fulfilled before declaration of loksabha election dates... Or else it will result for further delay untill next government takes the charge.

UFBU SHOULD GO ON INDEFINITE STRIKE IN MARCH 2014 TILL THE FULLY SETTLEMENT OF ALL ISSUE RELATED WAGE REVISION

Anonymous said...

let the FM and his family members to bring back the looted money from PSBs in the name of logo changing, faulty loans, indian bank scam etc., which will give a relief to npa position to a great extent. we should teach a lesson to these liars in the coming loksabha polls. And also we ve to give March 30&31st strike calls, so that the tax colln will get affected, let them do the work with govt. employees. We will also plans to boycott the coming election duties. we are least concerned about whether govt. is there or not.....

I AGREE FOR THE INDEFINITE STRIKE. OUR LEADERS ARE THINKING ABOUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT NOBODY (IBA, GOVERNMENT) IS THINKING OF THE SAME. WHY THEY ARE HESITATING TO TAKE THE STRIKE CALL. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT ALL THE STRIKE PERIOD DAYS WILL BE CONVERTED INTO LEAVES. ALL THE STRIKE DAYS ARE TO BE PAY'ABLE. BEFORE GOING FOR NEXT MEETING, UFBU HAS TO PUT THIS DEMAND FIRST AND NEXT BIPARTITE TALKS. THE HIKE SHOULD BE MORE THAN 35%. Mr.CHIDAMBARAM is not giving the Salaries from his Pocket.
