Outcome of Talks on 17.01.2014

UFBU's circulars says.....

During the discussions held today, after protracted negotiations, IBA finally agreed to improve their earlier initial offer of 5% on cost of Pay slip components (which amounted to Rs. 1575 crores ) to 9.5 % (amounting to around Rs. 3000 crores) which is exclusive of retirement benefits and other costs.  The IBA also reiterated that they would expedite the negotiations and conclude the Settlement by June, 2014.  IBA further informed that the next round of negotiations will be held on 27th January, 2014.

From our side, while explaining the rationale behind our charter of demands, we pointed out that their offer needs to be further enhanced before we can reach any finality.  However, looking to their improved offer and assurance to expedite the settlement, it was decided to defer our agitational programmes and proposed strike action on 20th and 21st January, 2014.

We congratulate all our unions and members all over the country for their enthusiastic preparation for the strike which has resulted in the above outcome.

BEFI circular says......

During the talks IBA while reiterating their issues like CTC, Mediclaim scheme etc, suggested that before any revised offer is given them, UFBU has to assure that they will not be going on strike on 20-21st January. This stance of IBA was not acceptable to UFBU and its representatives said IBA should first come out with their revised offer and only then UFBU will be able to say something new on its strike decision.

This position taken by UFBU mounted pressure on IBA and they gave their revised offer of 8% increase on pay slip components. Responding to this UFBU said that with this increase it is not possible for them to rethink on their strike call.

Arguments and counter arguments with some break in the discussion continued for some time and ultimately IBA went up for 9.5% increase of pay slip components (which was Rs 31,105 crores as on 31.03.2012) that includes, BP. DA, Special Pay, CCA, HRA, Conveyance Allowance paid with salary, FPP, Annual Medical Aid.

Responding to this UFBU said that this can be  the basis of further negotiation and for that immediate date for next talks should also be fixed by IBA today itself. IBA agreed to hold next talks  on 27th January, 2014.

In this backdrop UFBU decided to defer the strike call on 20-21 January, 2014.

Comrades, there is some progress in the process of negotiation due to our agitational programme including strike action.

Will the D.A increase for every slab be 0.15% or 0.10% because by my calculation a hike of 9.5% with DA @ .15% per slab is better than a hike of 20% with DA @.10% per slab. Please comment.

I presume that the payslip components also include PQP (CAIIB), Fixed Personal Pay ( or allowance). However it would be fair for IBA to give the details of what they consider as pay slip component and what are the items not included in it. Different people give different versions. IBA only can give authentic details. K.B.Neelakantan

OUR GREAT COMRADES THEY MUST BE HAPPY WITH A 9.5% INCREASE BECAUSE WITH THIS THEY HAVE DUG THEIR OWN TRENCH.
POOR BANKER'S IF THEY COULD HAVE AT LEAST STOP THEIR UNION SUBSCRIPTION AND LEVY THEY WOULD HAVE GOT A FAR BETTER SALARY REVISION.

THESE FOOL UFBU LEADERS HAVE ALREADY COMMITTED SO MUCH SIN THAT THE DAY IS NOT FAR WHEN THE MEMBERS WILL THROW THEM OUT IN THE JUNGLE TO BECOME PRE-HISTORIC.

While it was probably decided that we shouldn't give in unless our pay is hiked to 30%, I think we shouldn't agree with IBA unless they agree to give a hike of 25%. 9.5% is just nothing. Now a day we have to work for almost 12 hours a day, with no holidays on Saturday (like what other govt.employees enjoy; sometime we have to work on Sunday as well). So it is useless that the union members agreed to call off the strike with a settlement of 9.5% only. If IBA had given an option of 15% then we should have thought of calling off the strike with a provision of further dialogue. This is just shame. Does this mean that the union leaders will agree if the final settlement comes a 15% hike?? Please do the needful to give us justice.

We should demand the practice of BI-PARTY settlement and demand for pay commission along with central govt.
Then only these UFBU leaders will get correct lesson.
We should stop all our subscriptions to these doggy UFBU.

Will give you very good innovative
answers to us after the settlement.
We as usual will accept their verdict.
They opened the Pandorasbox.we have
to accept it.like GIC,lic,railways our
officer employees are not working in
their home state.
These things are tobe taken into account
before fixing the load factor.now we have
to forget 5 days working concept

It is better that the UFBU leaders quit the negotiating committee and go for begging in the streets instead of back stabbing of bank employees or if they do not willing, we all resign from the unions/associations and make them begging. This shall be the final decision.

wage revision matter should be giveto PAY COMMISSION AS FOR CENTRAL GOVT. EMPLOYEES then only these so called UFBU will learn a lesson as these leaders sell them in the hands of IBA and they settle for lesser amount as they only want to fill their pockets and they do not bother about Bank employees welfare.

We should stop paying monthly subscription and levy to our respective union, and if possible go
strike aginst UNION as well as IBA because UNION and IBA both are playing a game where they are trying to make fool to all bankers.

I wish to point out the following to the UFBU leaders when they go for their 'OUTING CUM TEA MEETING" on 27.01.2014. 1. The offer of 9.5% of pay slip components to be raised to a minimum of 15% either by bargaining or begging. 2. The DA slab rate should not be changed from 0.15% under any circumstances. 3. Five days a week should be bargained. 4. Reject the Hospitalization - Insurance proposal out rightly. If THE ABOVE CONDITIONS do not materialize you may quit the wage talk and issue INDEFINITE STRIKE.

Sir, I have met some union leaders at the lower level and have heard that the Top Level Union leaders are fearing that their members may refrain from participating in Strikes. I wish to point out that we the members at the base level are very strong to participate in the strike if the strike is for our Wage Revision only. ie. the Base is very Strong. But the building (Top Leaders) over it are very weak becasue they are always calling strikes which are not at all related to the wages or Welfare as such we have to hesitate to participate in such unwanted strike calls given by them. This shows that there is a huge gap between the Top Leaders and the base level members of the unions and thus the Top Leaders of the Bank Unions have not read the Pulse of their members at the base level. This is the reason, that they failed in our earlier wage revisions and now started miserably failing in this 10th BPS also.
