TRANSFER OF FEMALE EMPLOYEES IN PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS!

PSBs ADVISED TO FRAME POLICY TO MINIMIZE THEIR HARDSHIP!

Many of the Banks do not have transfer policy which gives consideration to the special problems which female officers/employees face vis-a-vis their male counterparts. Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services has issued guidelines to
all Public Sector Banks including IDBI & SBI Associates,
so that transfers of female officers and employees can be considered with compassion and their hardship can be mitigated to the extent possible.

We append below the communication sent by the Government to PSBs in this regard for your information:

F.No.4/9/1/2014-IR
Government of India
Ministry of Finance
Department of Financial Services
Jeevan Deep, IIIrd Floor,
Parliament Street, New Delhi
Dated the August 8, 2014

To

Chairman, SBI/CMDs of all Public Sector Banks including IDBI
and SBI Associates

Subject: Transfer of female employees in Public Sector Banks-
minimizing their hardship.

Sir,
It has been brought to the notice of this Department that female employees of Public Sector Banks (PSBs), married or unmarried, when placed/transferred away from their husbands or parents, as the case may be, to distant locations face a genuine hardship and develop a feeling of insecurity. Keeping this in view, it has been decided:
i. To accommodate as far as possible placement/transfer of married female employee, on her request, at a place where her husband is stationed or as near as possible to that place or vice versa; and
ii. To accommodate as far as possible placement/transfer of unmarried female employee, on her request, at a place where her parents, are stationed or as near as possible to that place.
2. PSBs are, therefore, advised to frame a policy on the subject with the approval of their Board suitably incorporating the above and take immediate action for implementation and compliance. Pending requests may also be considered under these guidelines. A line of confirmation may be sent to this Department immediately after adoption of the policy by the Board of the Bank.
3. This issues with the approval of Secretary (Financial Services).
Yours faithfully,
Sd/-
(Manish Kumar)
Under Secretary to the Government of India
************************************************,
Yours comradely,
(HARVINDER SINGH)
GENERAL SECRETARY

I had requested my bank's concerned authorities to retain me in Delhi only as my parents live in Delhi on the basis of this circular. However, the bank has rejected my plea and transferred me
saying that you have been promoted from scale 1 to scale 2. Hence these guidelines are not applicable to you. I fail to understand that what safety of female employees has to do with promotion and where it has been mentioned in the circular that these guidelines are not applicable on newly promoted female employees. Kindly advise for the further course of action and also let me know if these guidelines are not applicable to newly promoted female employees.

Now a days more and more females are joining the banks, does it mean they are meant for good and comfortable postings and the male employees be always at difficult centers. Don't forget male employees are also having wife, daughters and sisters in their family and he has to stay alone at difficult centers away from their family, what about the hardship of the female family of those male employees, and they have to run their family with two establishments but single salary. while the female employee got disturbed, when they transferred just 50 km away from their native or from the centre of her choice.

There should be same policy for male and female .
If you think they are equal

File a PIL against such absurd orders which are detrimental to the growth of PSB's and are purely discriminatory and in violation of the principles of equality as mentioned in our constitution.

It is clear they are showing female are inferior than man and cannot handle rural branches

Yes you are absolute right thinking abt female employees tat they should live wit their spouse and family and what abt the .male employees who are living away from their wife ,sisters daughter, old parents when compare to female employees they got to look over every body in his family with a single salary when they ask for equality why they ask for individual benefit all male and female employees together should fight for the benefits and welfare of PSB employees

But bank says they can't give posting as per our choice always. They show various problems when we ask them that we want to stay with our family . I am the eldest in my family and I don't have any brother. I have to take care of my parents and my parents can't shift to other places with me. But bank is saying there are so many ladies to whom should they listen . they will listen to the senior ladies who are willing to take transfer according to their choice. Where does seniority comes here? The instruction by the govt says about all the ladies. What should I do now?
