All India Bank Employees Association, the oldest and the largest trade union of bank employees in India representing more than 5 lacs of bank employees working in public sector banks, private banks, foreign banks, co-operative Banks and Regional Rural Banks is observing 5th December, 2013 as All India Demands Day to highlight the issue of huge increase in the bad loans in the Banks.

Increasing bad loans – effect of banking reforms:  Banks are dealing with the hard-earned savings of the people and today, the total Deposits in the Banks in India have crossed Rs. 75 lacs crores.  This precious money of the people needs to be safeguarded and guaranteed by proper regulations in the Banks.  But the in the name of reforms and liberalisation, banking regulations are being de-regulated.  One of the main adverse effect of this de-regulation is the increase in bad loans in the Banks where the big borrowers take loans from the Banks and do not repay.

All India Demands Day on 5th December, 2013 :

To highlight the danger of growing bad loans and Non-performing loans in the Banks, we are observing All India Demands Day on 5th December, 2013 by badge wearing, rallies, etc.  with the following demands.

  • Publish the list of Bank Loan Defaulters of Rs. 1 crore and above
  • Make Willful default of bank loan a criminal offence
  • Order investigation to probe nexus and collusion
  • Amend Recovery Laws to speed up recovery of bad loans
  • Take stringent measures to recover bad loans
  • Do not incentivise corporate delinquency

AIBEA to publish the list of bank loan defaulters:

Since the RBI or the Government is not publishing the list of loan defaulters, AIBEA will shortly publish a Booklet containing the names of the top 30 defaulters in each Bank.  Names of some of the top defaulters of Bank loans are given overleaf.

Since bad loans and write off is a loot of public money, we seek the support of the people in our campaign to safeguard the public money in the Banks.
