Apart from seeking early settlement of wage revision, the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has renewed its appeal for introduction of five-day workweek and regulated working hours for officers.
The issue was discussed in detail at a recent meeting with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) in Mumbai. On its part, the UFBU said working hours could be increased by 45 minutes a day as most of the branches function for four hours on the weekend.
“While appreciating our viewpoints, the IBA wanted further inputs from the Unions in order to examine the issues and to take up the matter with higher authorities,” said UFBU Convenor M.V. Murali.
Talking to The Hindu, a UFBU representative said they would also seek suggestions from the government and bank customers as the latter should not feel that five-day banking would lead to reduction in services.
Government has already declined 5 day banking while majority of customers ask for 7 day banking. Customers expect banks to function especially on Sundays. how can this work?
ReplyDeleteEvery other sector gets holidays. What will be the reaction if that holiday is taken? Are we bankers not human? We are already overburdened. Now 7day work? Is the public insane?
DeleteThis is a very important issue raised by the UFBU .At this juncture we need to promote and educate people about alternative delivery channels. 5 working days will not only benefit employees but bank also ,saving their overhead costs. I think 5 days work will improve the quality of the work as the employees will get 2 days to recharge themselves.
ReplyDeleteKeeping 5 working days does not mean 5 days of Bank operation. Bank can operate for 6 days. One day compulsory holiday (Sunday) and other day on rotation basis.
DeleteYou UFBU leaders do you really think that this way you guys will win the confidence of bank employees...please stop wasting our time what do you mean by this that we work only for four hours on Saturday's who the hell is able to work for only four hours on Saturday's you guys are pathetic and miles away from the ground reality. Behaving like beggars in front of IBA if people really been working for 4 hours they would have never come up with this sort of demand forget about developed countries like US and European countries. In countries nearby india we have 5 days banking. What do you mean by we will ask from bank's customers and do you think they will give you nod for 5 days banking. Please stop doing all this bullshit I will not pay any money to UFBU. BOYCOTTTTTTTTT UFBU BOYCOTTTTTTTTT IBA dissolve both of them.
ReplyDeleteWell i know a few banks who work on Sunday and take weekly off on some other day, so if it can work for 1 day why can it not work for 2 days
ReplyDeleteIt's a game by Ufbu and iba reg 5 day banking,I bet it will not come.they want to divert attn from wage revision and their failures.how many customers will accept no bank on Saturday as its it's their weekly holiday.wiil Ufbu resign if they are not able to achieve this 5 days bank.useless,shameless.spineless creatures. Ufbu.days are not far off to finish u all
ReplyDeleteTHEY WILL ASK FROM BANK CUSTOMERS ABOUT MAKING 5 DAY'S BANKING AND CUSTOMERS WILL ACCEPT THIS, UFBU IS GON MAD BEHAVING LIKE BEGGARS, SHAME ON YOU UFBU LEADERS....PLEASE ALL THE BANK EMPLOYEES BOYCOTTTTTTTTT UFBU PLEASE DON'T CONTRIBUTE SINGLE PENNY TO THEM.
ReplyDeleteBOYCOTTTTTTTTT UFBU BOYCOTTTTTTTTT IBA. DISSOLVE BOTH OF THEM.
Kaun customer sunday ko bank mangta hai bhai, chaar jute lagao usko aur pucho sale kya tehsil ke kaam b sunday karwata hai wo, ya apne office holiday pe jata hai kya wo? hai kaun sala aisa cust mar.
ReplyDelete5 Days working is just a befooling stance if UFBU to divert banker attention from the core issues. Working days in a week is totaly not related to wage settlement and it is been discarded by finance ministry also. As per guidelines working hour in normal day is 7 hour and on saturday it is 4 hour, if UFBU is serious on banker health then sitting beyond 6 PM should be stopped and make compulsary for all officer, doing this one only bring drasting chage in IBA attitude. Our charter of demand being placed 16 months back and still we are at ground zero and for this only UFBU is responsible. In the last meeting on 14.03.2014 they were talking on allied issues and for wage settlement they were totaly denied by IBA. To save skin UFBU is now talking of 5 days working, pension issue, medical reimbursement and compensatory appointment.
ReplyDeleteSeriously..these people who claimed they are working for the betterment of employess...are liers...

We did hard work to get job..but in banking seriously no life....i m ashamed to call myself banker.
UFBU HAAYE HAAYE...UFBU MURDABAD...IBA HAAYE HAAYE...IBA MURDABAD....BAND BAND KARO BAND KARO...ATYAAACHAAR BAND KARO. UFBU KO KHATAM KARO IBA KO KHATAM KARO.
ReplyDeleteINDEFINITE STRIKE KARO....UFBU MURDABAD.
IT WILL BE MORE BETTER TO ASK OUR CUSTOMER ARE THEY AGREE WITH OUR DEMAND ON WAGE REVISION OR NOT.CUSTOMERS AND BORROWERS ARE LORD AND WE THE BLOODY BANKERS ARE BEGGARS.IT IS NOT MY THOUGHT,OUR BELOVED LEADERS ATTITUDE IS SAYING THIS.THANKS TO OUR LEADER.
ReplyDeleteDOSTON HUME KASAM KHANI CHAHIYE JAHAN KOI IBA WALA MILE WAHIN USE DO JHAPAD RASEED KARO YEH BHADWE HAIN SARKAAR KE BANK SE NIKAL KAR IBA ME JATE HI INKE DIMAG FIR GAYE AUR INHE THEEK KARNE KA YAHI TARIKA HAI. LAATON KE BHOOT BATON SE NAHIN MAANTE. GANDHI JI NE BHI KAHA THA AAKHIR ME AB MAARO YA MARO.
ReplyDeletecustomers.
ReplyDeleteDue to acute shortage of manpower in higher scale, banks without any fear and without any hesitation are giving faster and faster promotion to officers who do not possess adequate knowledge and experience. Inexperienced officers are posted as Branch Head or assigned the duty of customer related and credit related risky operation and allowed to work online on computers. Cases of bad debts and that of fraud are on sharp rise during last five to ten years and going beyond the control of management of public sector banks. Still banks appears to be careless and painless.
Inspite of growing mess in all banks they do not recruit adequate number of additional fresh youth to fill the manpower gap in branches. Inefficient persons are posted in branches without proper training and proper skill .Branches are opened by one or two employees just to make record in opening of new branches. Safety of public fund is no more their concern. Officers who have hardly worked in branches for a year or two and who are not well versed with intricacies of bank job and who are not aware of inherent risk of fraud and advances going bad are being made Branch head or Regional Head.
It is pity that during eighties and nineties, officers in scale I used to get promotion to scale II in ten to 15 years but during last few years officers with hardly ten years of experience are made scale IV or scale V despite the fact that several senior officers are languishing in remote corners.
It is further ironical , disheartening , frustrating and dangerous that unemployed youth who appeared for the examination conducted by IBPS for recruiting clerks and officers for various government run banks and who passed the required test have not been given appointment letter despite lapse of a year and more. Due to such callous and casual approach of top officials of banks, not only youth are getting frustrated due to inordinate delay in getting job letter after passing the test conducted by IBPS , but public money deposited in these banks are also subjected to credit risk, operational risk and reputation risk.
Politicians take credit that they have created employment opportunities in banks and promised several times to give employment to lac or to millions. But it is painful that neither these politicians , nor RBI or GOI take cognizance of delay in giving job letter to those who have already passed the required test and consequent risk to public money parked in these banks or risk arising due to rise in bad debts.
When banks suffer loss due to rise in bad debts or rise in fraud cases, management of banks and Ministry of Finances should be held responsible , accountable and punishable who failed to exercise their duty of planning manpower in unison with branch expansion and plan profitability accordingly.
It is sin that banks under public sector are booking profit by saving expenses on manpower, they do not give respectable pay hike to working employees and they do not recruit fresh youth to take care of bank and more clearly they are willfully allowing banks to move from bad to worse, To add fuel to fire , existing employees in banks are subjected to work late and to work on Sundays and holidays due to which they are also getting frustrated and becoming victim of various diseases.
NOW I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT WAGE REVISION AND NEW AGENDA I APPEAL TO YOUTH PLEASE JOIN UNION BECAUSE I HAVE NOTICED CURRENT UNION LEADERS STRESSING MORE ON PENSION AND OTHER AFTER RETIREMENT BENEFITS BECAUSE THEY ARE APPROACHING TO RETIREMENT AND IN THEIR MINDS THEIR SALARIES ARE MORE THAN THEY EXPECTED IN THEIR LIFE. SO WE YOUTH HAVE TO THINK ABOUT OURSELVES AND HAVE TO BE IN UNION AND OUR AGENDA SHOULD BE EQUAL BENEFITS AND EQUAL PAY TO PAY COMMISSION AND DILUTION OF IBA WE WILL APPROACH TO LABOR COMMISSION DIRECTLY. DEMAND TO DILUTE IBA COMPLETELY NO NEED OF THESE BROKERS.
