UFBU circular dt.05.12.2014

“Revolutionary Salutes to all our constituent Units and the membership in toto – The Relay Zonal Strikes started from 2nd December 2014 to till date have seen unprecedented success, displaying the anguish and frustrati on of the bank employees, who are being d enied the reasonable wage revision and also the undue delay on the part of IBA in conclusion of the settlement.

We already informed in our earlier circular about the total success of Relay Zonal Strike observed in Southern Zone on 2nd instant, which had paralysed the banking services throughout the Southern Zone.

We are glad to inform that the Relay Zonal Strikes on 3rd December in Northern Zone, on 4th December in the Eastern Zone and today in the Western Zone, have also ended in grand success.

We have received reports from all over the country that huge number of employees has participated in the mammoth rallies and demonstrations held on the respective strike days at var ious important centres and made the Relay Zonal Strike in all the zones, a huge success.

We sincerely congratulate our constituent units and members all over the country for the Thunderous Success of the Relay Zonal Strikes from 2nd to 5th instant, which is clearly a w akeup call to IBA with an indication that the total work force is expecting the IBA – Government combine to expeditiously settle a reasonable wage revision to bank employees.

The Relay Zonal Strike has severely hit the banking services all over the country, more particularly the Clearing operations were by and large affected due to the zone-wise non-participation of the Banks on account of Zonal strike on continuous 4 days. Even though it is not our intention to create inconvenience to our esteemed customers and general public, it is just the adamant behaviour of IBA-Government combine, which has compelled us to strike work.
At least now, the IBA should realise the need to substantially improve its offer to meet the just demands of UFBU and finalise the settlement at the earliest. But, any further delay in arriving at a settlement would increase the anxiety amongst the employees and Unions would be forced to decide on further intensification of agitation.

As informed earlier, the representatives of UFBU would meet after proper assessment of impact of Relay Zonal Strikes along with strategies to be adopted while deciding on intensifying the agitation, if needed. As decided earlier, the proforma of appeal to the general public and esteemed customers towards creation of awareness on our genuine demands would be finalised and sent to all constituents for distribution.

Comrades, the thundering success of the Relay Zonal Strikes is not the end of our struggle. If the IBA-Government combine is still adamant, UFBU would not hesitate to decide on sustained struggles including indefinite strike. Success shall always be ours – Let us move forward together and stop not till our legitimate demands are achieved.

We place on record our sincerest thanks to all the leaders belonging to various trade union fraternities for their support and solidarity. While we heartily congratulate the entire membership for the total success of One Day Strike on the 12th November 2014 and Relay Zonal Strikes from 2nd December to 5th till date, we appeal to all the comrades to be in readiness for implementation of the action programmes, as decided by UFBU from time to time.”

With militant greetings,
 Sd/-(M.V.MURALI) CONVENOR

  2. Dear UFBU...congratulations to comrades for what reason....for loosing salary for two days and even then no call from IBA for further discussions (or) UFBU not able to take call for indefinite strike even now.....I feel UFBU is the most week union in India....and the most irresponsible union ....I don't know how bank communities are accepting these unions as their representatives.....I am getting laugh after reading this article....

  5. neft rtgs. ie interbank and intra bank fund transfer was functional.how one can claim strike fully success.during the strike only common man suffered those who personally go to bank.iba and govt are more smart to reduce the effect of strike.atm neft rtgs.online banking were functional which is available to most businessman and smart customers.only long drawn strike with militancy will break the back bone of iba govt nexus but we have to give extreme sacifice

  6. When oil tankers and NLC which are essential services can announce indefinite strike and achieve their demands why UFBU is shying away from such announcements after patient waiting of two years. Probably Government may propose merger of settlements (2012 & 2017) if UFBU WAITS MORE.

  7. This one day strike kind of agitation has been going on for nearly 2 years. And we lose 1 day salary every time, but for how long this'd continue? Even in this era of smart phones and quick delivery of services, a simple resolution has to take ages to arrive?? Lil..

  8. In what way these UFBU people are saying "unprecedented success". It infact paralysed the employees by loosing one day salary. Nothing else has happened. These Uion leaders are having an eyewash of all by doing this. Whatever going on is a pre planned drama.

" Let every employee withdraw their membership from their concerned union"

Only indefinite strike will end up in a success. otherwise this settlement will be around 11-13 only......

Bank Officer = Central Govt Daftary.

Shame of saying " working in a Bank
    "

  10. comrades ubfu is thinking to have strikes on all Sundays by that only your pay is cut but iba's interest will be protected. If real wage settlement is needed then ubfu members must go to the meeting with iba on their personal expenses (not of the union/association funds).

  11. Rubbish - all rubbish. When there weak government at the centre, the unions sat quietly and now they think they can take out a good settlement. Absolutely no. They are making fools of their members. They should also find out how many members of theirs are deducting their salary for the strike. Some are doing because of fear phychosis. These so called union leaders should be thrown out. Retired fellows have nothing to lose or worry.

I feel its need more coverage in the media, union has to approach MPs and request them to raise the issue in the parliament. Also give details in news papers why banks are suffering with NPAs who is the cause for this
what made them to put the staff in stake for govt policies and decisions.now banks are the gate way for every thing all the govt and public txns are being routed through banks only where is the staff to do all the things and what is the risk factor the employees bearing cant these things UNIONS highlight in the meeting, and propoganda in the media and to the govt.if we present all these things heart fully every body will understand these things.

  17. No indef and one day strike. No loss of pay onwards. Explore new idea like anna hajareji's indefinite hunger strike by all leaders of negotiating team. I think it is best option. Salary nahi kategi to members bhi khush rahebge aur leaders ki Iggat bhi badhegi like Gandhigiri. UFBU Age badho ham tumhare sath hai. Long live ufbu nd all leaders. Let us declare the indef hunger strike imdtly.
