Decision of NOBW Union:

In the back round of UFBU meeting to be held on 13th Oct 2014 at Bangalore, NOBW met at Mumbai today i.e. 10th Oct. 2014 and decided
1) Stick to 25% demand of Wage revision
2) Not to favour of token strike one/two days.
Go for long and indefinite strike.
3) NOBW is open for Pay Commission recommendations for Bank employees. 4) NOBW also demanded to consider Compassionate appointment cases pending before 5th August, 2014

For your reference last strike for wage revision was on 10&11th of Feb 2014.
i.e when Congress Govt. was in power at center.

After that no strike call was given.

Now, UFBU is getting ready to go for a strike. Dates and number of days will be decided in a meeting on 13.10.2014.
This will be the first strike action against BJP Govt., for wage revision.

At the time of last strike INBOC and INBEF (both affiliated to INTUC/Congress) participated in the strike eventhough Congress was in power that time.

INTUC a congress affiliated central trade union participated in all the struggle programmes with central trade unions like AITUC,CITU,HMS and BMS against anti labour policies of Govt. , even though Congress was in power at center.

1. Coming to NOBW (union affliated with BMS/BJP), in the earler occations, has not opposed to one or two days strike.
After BJP came to power it is advocating for long/indefinite strike, knowing fully well it is not going to meterialise.

It is to escape from participating in the forthcoming strike, so that it will not hurt the feelings of Modiji.
When the frustration/angry of the bank employees are boiling like anything againt the Govt./IBA,  NOBW is pouring cold water to difuse or to divert.
When Govt. is in paying position and bank employees are at reciving end,
anger of employees should be directed towards Govt., only.
Some people play a game very cleverly, diverting the anger towards unions itself in the social media,as if Govt. is ready to give more and only unions are not accepting it.
Some comrades also fall prey to this propaganda.

2. In the last meeting, UFBU (said to be) reduced its demand to 23% from 25%   with some conditions,
(Eventhough a big brother want to reduce it further).
Now NOBW again wants to stick to 25%.
Is it to show that NOBW is more serious than any other
constituents of UFBU?

3. Another decision is about Pay commission. After 40 years of existence, only now it come to the conclution that Pay commission may be a better option than Bi-partite settlement.
That too at the time going for strikes action.
It is very simple, if a Pay commission is constituted no nessecity for strike till it gives its report.
It may take another 2 years, what a smart move to save Modi govt. from the anger of bank employees?
Will this move not dilute the negotiation process?

4. Demand for Comppasionate appointment for cases before 05.08.2014.
Any union is opposing it? Already UFBU has sought clarification about this in the last BPS talks. On receipt of clarification, further course action may be decided.

Hence, by posing itself as more serious in employees’ issues and posting more attractive demands, NOBW is trying to distancing itself from UFBU. It is not a good shine. It will only back track the negotiation process.

Unions are meant for employee’s welfare and not for
pleasing the political Boss.
Bank employees are shrewd enough to read between lines.

United struggle!
Forceful struggle!
(Not only strike, but also all forms of struggle)
Active participation of all employees/officers in the struggle!
No political agenda!
No imposition of one’s own agenda on
other constituents of UFBU!
And above all no back stabbing at the last/crucial movement
as in the past!

If these are followed we can expect a good settlement!
Otherwise,  …..I leave it to you……..

  3. why it will not materialise...1-2 day strike is of no use...we have to do all the work in third day and tech channels also reduce impact...sureley ther is a need of one week strike and along with advertising the strike big in press..unions shud also try to keep their employees employed in some temproary jobs so the loss of pay is compensated to an extent...and preferably this strike shud be done at year end time like march last week...or quarter end times or near the end date of advance tax collection dates

  4. If UFBU could not perform even to a minimum threshold level there is no point for its existence. It should be abandoned as soon as possible.
We fail to understand whether UFBU is made for employees/labor or the Government?

  5. 1. Why indefinite strike is not going to materialise?
    2. IBA is not ready to negotiate even after UFBU showed flexibility in its demand (25% to 23%). Then if we also show rigidity and ask for 25% only... What's wrong with that?
U r right "bank employees are shrewd enough to read between the lines" so stop giving lame explanations for your stupid decisions.

  7. I am from officer cadre. And supporting to stick with 25%. Even more 2 years will taken for it.
But any how 10th BPS must be at least 25%.
In Last 9th BPS We have seen last minutes back stabbing about % recovery from PF optees from other union/association.
I also support INDEFINITE Strike.Because 1 day strike has no impact and date of strike has also no meanings.
So, stop Union Bazi and do work in favor of bankers.I have no meaning what is NOBW and Whats its agenda.

  8. Why are other unions afraid of indefinite strike if NOBW is proposing. In fact all the unions should agree pronto. Regarding pay commission , it is welcome but still the strike call for immediate wage increase must prevail. Aam bankers are least concerned with political affiliations. They have only interest in respectable wage increase immediately . No more delay even for pay commission .Better go for indefinite strike to settle this matter once for all.

  12. Do you able to understand the meaning of SHAME. Do you know DELAY IN JUSTICE IS UNJUSTICE. I have seen so many comments against the Union leaders like you and those all are bankers. After all of these comments you are still saying that BP summit and unions are better than Pay commission. Please you are requested to STOP your word. It also seems that you are unable to understand the voice of the bankers. What you will do if IBA do not agree with your demands. 2 years out of 5 years have already been elapsed in tea party. Wait you will be kicked off soon.

I think if there is any section in NOBLE PRIZE for the WORST UNION OF THE WORLD and WORST UNION LEADERS ... I am gunshot sure UFBU would get the NOBLE PRIZE for the WORDT UNION if the world

  13. UFBU Plz understand now . It is futile to defend the indefensible. You lost the game long back.So now the least you can do is to extend your support instead of speculating NOBW. After all you alone not the REPOSITORY of all wisdom in the world and nor you have patented all the ideas of the world. If you think the ultimate aim is to achieve the set goal then who does that hardly matters. By the way TWO LONG YEARS are no less time. Its better for you to take a break. Instead of leading from the front give your push from the behind. Am sure we will make it.

  14. I am an officer and fully agreed to the point that at least a week strike should be called...mere 1-2 days strike put burdon on us only,2 days strike in bank means work without pay as we hv to complete whole work on 3rd day....People saying negetive effect of long strike.Abhi jo bank employees ki halat hai usse bhi bekaar kya hoga...Has any Union leader opposed the decision to attend ATM on Sunday or Holiday...No...because they dont have attend ATMs on holidays....

  18. I support indefinite strike. Also we are aware that in 7th pay comm. Of Cent.Govt employees it is proposed about 30-35%.That means their salary will be about 130% more than Banker. We should keep our demand keeping above thing in mind & raise our demand upto 40% in order to get at least 25%.Also we should adhere to 6 days Woking issue . Best days for strike is few days prior to Diwali. This will gain attention of NaMo . And give him opportunity to prove himself that a banker not only need to be appreciated but also respected by giving him respectable Salary.

  19. Gys I am one of u, a young banker . Till today I thought like you. But today I got chance to talk some leaders of union. What they explain to me it was a eye opener for me. We only see the our in hand salary and compare to others but when we calculate our others benefits like news paper, petroll medical, lfc etc and even a increment. It is huge. Union is only our wellfare plz dont go for pay commission it will ruined us.

  20. STRIKE SHOULD BE BEFORE DIWALI.......IT SEVERELY AFFECTS NOT ONLY THE COUNTRY BUT THE IBA
    AND GOVT....

  21. NOBW Union is now pretending to be the saviour of Bank employees/officers and trying to show their muscle as WE KNOW THAT they are the mouth piece of BJP's Trade union wing. It is clearly understood that the BJP is trying to split the UFBU and thus the Wage Talks SHALL BE SABOTAGED. The BJP govt will try to give the Wage increase just as "THE MASTERS's threw away the BISCUITS to their PET DOGS".

  25. We do not understand the stupidity of unions. They will call strike in the month of February which is of 28 /29 days. If they want to build pressure call indefinite strike in the last week of march and see how the shameless IBA will come with acceptable offer. Loss making PSU , white elephants central govt employee are getting more and more and we after putting up 11-12 hours a day along with huge risk thown to the bottom of economic strata.
